Polyethylene glycol (klean-Prep)

Type of Medication: Laxative

Indications: Severe constipation with colonic loading

Side Effects: Electrolyte imbalance, dehydration

Route of administration: Route of administration: Adult (Oral)

Dose:2 sachets each day for 2 days

Administration: Reconstitute each sachet with 1 litre water. May need to be administered through an NG tube.

Examples of some Drug Interactions

Interacting drug: Probenecid

reduces excretion of cephalosporins

Interacting drug: Warfarin

Rare reports of increases in prothrombin time.
